History

Our operations began in 1971 under our visionary founder, Jacobo Elías Handal, followed by the second generation, engineer Farid Elías Handal, and now joined by the third generation, engineer David E. Handal.

We are part of the group of 100% Honduran-owned companies brought together today under Grupo Atria. More than fifty years of knowledge and experience in garment manufacturing let us recommend the best equipment available for our customers' sewing, cutting and finishing projects, and that effort has contributed to the development of the textile industry in Honduras and Central America.

Our greatest resource is our people. We work to keep our staff at the forefront of technology: developing their skills, motivating them and giving them the best working conditions. That is where the organization's constant improvement comes from.

Association

Sewn Products Equipment & Suppliers of the AmericasSee the member directory

SPESA — Sewn Products Equipment & Suppliers of the Americas — is the industry association for suppliers to the sewn products industry: the manufacturers and distributors of machinery, technology, systems, parts and services that make production possible.

It was founded in 1990, when a group of industry leaders saw that the companies supplying the machinery and the technology needed a collective voice. Much of the conversation about apparel revolved around brands and retailers, yet the innovation driving the industry — from cutting and sewing equipment to automation and software — came from the suppliers holding up production behind the scenes.

It remains the forum where that side of the industry collaborates, shares knowledge and makes its voice count. Agencia J.E. Handal is an active member.

Association

Asociación Hondureña de MaquiladoresVisit the AHM

The Asociación Hondureña de Maquiladores is a private, non-political, non-profit institution with its own legal standing, representing the country's manufacturing companies before public and private institutions.

It was founded on 29 October 1991, when the rapid growth of manufacturing — today one of Honduras's largest sources of jobs and exports — called for a common voice. It was created to promote and develop the sector's investment and exports, at home and abroad.

Its work is to sustain the growth of its member companies and with it the productive jobs that raise the country's competitiveness and reduce poverty: institutional support so that conditions and the legal framework encourage investment, training and in-plant innovation programmes, and stronger labour relations with corporate social responsibility and care for the environment. Tell us what garment you produce and where the problem sits in the process. We reply with the equipment that fits, not with the whole catalog.
