71-⁠1D-⁠2 CNP

The 71-1D-2 CNP is a completely nickel plated butt-seamer that is used for joining material in wet environments. It is a high speed sewing machine and sews a 3/8" wide tight butted seam on wet or dry goods. The 71-1D-2 CNP is ideal for light to medium weight knit material.

The 71-1D-2 CNP is a chemically nickel plated, single needle, one-thread, double row differential feed butt-seamer that runs on Merrow's barrel cam architecture. It joins WET or DRY, light to medium weight KNIT fabric at HIGH SPEED. With minimal part upgrades, the 71-1D-2 CNP can easily be converted to sew with two threads.

WHY it's better

The combination of high speed sewing and a narrower butted seam makes the 71-1D-2 CNP ideal for seaming lightweight knits. It sews a flat and strong butt seam that is narrower than the traditional Merrow butt seam, but at 3/8" is tighter and more compact, creating a secure joint on lightweight fabric. The 71-Class stitch still has a flat profile however, and will not interfere with subsequent finishing processes.

HOW it's better

The 71-1D-2 CNP is coated with a chemically adhered nickel plating which allows the machine to be used in wet or caustic environments where corrosion is a concern. It is a hybrid of Merrow's MG-Class and 70-Class machines and while it sews with the precision and speed of our MG overlock models, it does not recirculate oil and prevents the internal buildup of particulates that plagues self-oiling machines.

WHERE it's used

The 71-1D-2 CNP is used in wet industrial environments where fast seaming of knit fabric is required. The nickel plating makes the machine ideal for dye houses or facilities that specialize in bleaching, mercerising, washing, or printing.
